A major project management consultancy services contract by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The contract covers consultancy services in project management, construction supervision, and related activities for KOC's upstream oil and gas assets in Kuwait. Amec Foster Wheeler (Wood PLC) has a long-term project management contract with KOC and provides consultancy services across a series of projects, from concept through to construction management and execution.
Responsibilities included:
Working as a Lead CSA Design Engineer The role was to ensure that the project scope was performed to Client’s technical and safety standards within the project schedule and budget. This necessitates working closely with Contractors to support and facilitate the success of the subject project.
- Consultancy technical support for civil, structural, and architectural works related to FEED:
- Front End Engineering Design (FEED) Deliverable’s production, review, and modifications
- Led team of Engineers, surveyors, and draftsmen to produce in-country delegated FEED works (Pipeline routes and associated pipeline alignment drawings, Overhead power lines Routes coordinating with concerned authorities, Fields Road networks and utility corridors drawings, etc.)
- Pre-bid site investigation documents including geotechnical investigation, underground utilities survey, and site surveys. Including reviewing the submitted reports and communicating with the client for site reservations.
- Bid process support including responding to bidder queries and clarifications, tender evaluation, and award recommendations.
- Contributing to project technical Contract appendices and preparing relevant technical documents/drawings including writing scope of works and addendum to standards/ specifications for projects
- Performs all related civil/structural technical reviews of submitted design basis and guidelines, specifications, project civil and structural related calculations, and drawings ensuring achieving Company quality/ accuracy in compliance with client standards, specifications, and contract technical requirements.
- Review/Approval of Site Civil works Earthworks including grading works, bunding works, and impounding basins/evaporations ponds
- Review of Buildings such as Control Buildings, Substations, Guard houses, etc.
- Review of General Arrangement and Construction Drawings for structural steel facilities and buildings, shelters, pipe racks, pipe supports, chemical process structures, mechanical equipment foundations (flare stacks, pumps, compressors, tanks, vessels, etc.) concrete ordinary and blast-resistant buildings (substations and Control Buildings), Pits, sumps, crossings, protection slabs/culverts for underground utilities.
- Review/Approval of Drainage systems and their hydraulic design
- Review/Approval of roads, Access ways, paving, and hard-standing design including geometrical design, pavement design, road curbing, marking, and signage.
- Review/Approval of other related infrastructure works for the oil fields including Overhead Power lines and Substations, cable routes and ducts/culverts/hand holes, Road Networks, etc.
- Participates in 3D model PDS / PDMS multi-discipline reviews and reviews of updated models using Navisworks
- Resolving Technical Queries (TQ), responding to Information Requests, and evaluating Concession/Departure requests.
- Participates in Project Constructability, safety, and risk reviews and assessment
- Provide engineering support to the construction team, and address/ discuss with Contractors’ engineering staff design & constructability issues and how to address them.
