Rania is a civil engineer with more than 10 years of experience obtained mostly in the infrastructure design management and coordination arena, out of which, her last year was invested in project management, business development and bidding overview. Rania is also a certified LEED Green Associate, a certificate that enabled her to contribute in the energy management and green buildings sector as well.
Rania is working on obtaining her PMP certification to enhance her project management skills.
Rania has a proven track record of leading and managing project teams with multi-disciplinary projects working with international renowned organizations. She was also responsible for the technical delivery and contractual relationships between projects and clients, carrying out various engineering, project management efforts and satisfying field construction works. In her work tenure, Rania was able to coordinate and deliver engineering efforts amounting to one Billion USD of capital works.

In 2005 she supervised and managed the engineering department of the Morganti Group to deliver some $169 million USD for Al Samra Waste Water Treatment Plant works including the surrounding land development for this facility.

In 2008 she worked in close coordination with principal engineers to manage and coordinate the design of the Queen Alia International airport project with all its infrastructure wet and dry utilities worth of 680 million USD working with J&P Joannou & Paraskevaides.

During the last year, Rania was enhancing and perfecting her project management and client service management skills by working in the Business Development field at EMS (Energy Management Services Intl.). Her work included bidding management, full market comprehension, pricing and effort estimation, follow up on bids and submitted RFP’s, performance overview to ensure scope is met and delivered with the highest quality standards, managing all EMS projects and reporting directly to CEO.

Senior Civil Engineer at Joannou & Paraskevaides( J&P)

Rania’s role involved the coordination between all parties of this project including the contractor J&P, Foster & Partners, Zuhair Fayez Partnership and Louis Berger. The project consists of the expansion for the new terminal building with an initial capacity of 9 million passenger per annum and ability to expand to 12 million passengers per annum. It includes resurfacing of the southern taxiway, upgrading and improvements to the existing terminal and construction of a temporary transfer baggage facility and is located 36 km away from downtown Amman.

The project was implemented on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis transaction involving a 25-year contract for a Rehabilitation, Expansion and Operation Agreement REOA.
Responsibilities included the following:
 Following the project starting from the initiation phase, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling activities by coordinating between J&P and different project design consultants (Foster & Partners and Zuhair Fayez Partnership) and the EPC Independent Engineer (Louis Berger).
 Managing the team of engineers, technicians and draftsmen, distributing work packages, meeting targets and following and exceeding planned baseline.
 Managing and coordinating with various sub-contractors, sub-consultants, client, operator and major stakeholders.
 Providing technical support to site engineers, coordinating with designers/ sub-consultants and sub-contractors on all design related issues.
 Receiving, checking and issuing project drawings and documents from designers, subcontractors and other concerned parties.
 Implementing company’s policies and procedures towards issuing and receiving drawings to all concerned parties, recording them in an accessible manner through an innovated system to match project needs.
 Handling tasks directly appointed by the project management i.e. the complete design of a camp of a capacity of 2500 labor, along with its infrastructure, access roads, services and follow up of construction activities on site.

As-Samra Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is the largest wastewater treatment facility in Jordan. Construction of the As-Samra WWTP was undertaken during a period of five years from 2003 to August 2008, at a cost of $169m. As-Samra WWTP consists of a primary settling tank, eight aeration tanks and eight secondary settling tanks, four anaerobic sludge digesters, biogas and hydro-powered generators, and an odour control system.

Responsibilities included the following:
 Technical support to site engineers on various structural and process design related issues.
 Supervising a project team of draftsmen.
 Issuing the necessary shop drawings to site supervisors, design of potable, irrigation, service, fire and sewer water networks for non-process buildings.
 Design for the gravity irrigation pipelines, design of underground drainage network for process structures.
 Review all works, update and check of method statements for all major structures (AWTP project), follow up on all submittals i.e. (Drawings, calculation notes) to concerned parties and responding to relate comments
 The review, check and recommendation on drawings related to subcontractors and suppliers, issuance of As- Built drawings (Structural, Architectural & Mechanical) for the AWTP & Ain Ghazal pretreatment structures,
 Coordination between two major designers, checking conflicts that may arise among civil, mechanical & electrical details.
 Follow up and evaluate performance of various structures during pre-commissioning.
 Issue of the Section Completion requests & necessary documents after checking and coordinating with site/controls department to insure all comments/requirements of client are well addressed and achieved.
 Issue of the follow up & update punch/snag lists posted by several parties (client, client representatives, Ministry & Internal Consortium QA/QC).
 Preparing design claims in the course of estimating design hours for any design change/variation orders.
